Grams
Listen, I'm kinda beefy over an art show that opens this weekend, but I still think everyone should see it - and I don't want to take any credit away from the amazing artists and Justin from Shooting Gallery and Kris Lewis (who seems to have been the curators) for putting together what seems like an incredible exhibit. Just sour over will.i.am doing an art show and not involving G1988 (my other job), considering I've been friends with the guy since youth and actually did him a crazy favor a few years back. Whatever, now I can make fun of his solo album and not feel bad.
Onto less bitter information, these artists were each commissioned to create portraits of Grammy-nominated artists for an exhibit this weekend at the Pacific Electric Lofts in LA. here are some really awe-inspiring examples...
Nas by Henry Lewis
Jay-Z by Greg Gossel
Madonna by Lori Early
M.I.A. by Colin Christian
Rich Rubin by Paul Chatem
will.i.am (boooo!) by David Stoupakis
Angus Young by Shawn Barber
Trent Reznor by Travis Louie

Listen, you COULD focus on this full shot of the Limited Blue Camo Hoodie that Pete was wearing during press week at the Super Bowl, but I think I'll stare at the fact that a microphone has a rubber ducky on it.

Kitchen Ware
''Hit it" is a series of furniture, consisting of a table and chairs. They resemble Saloon furniture from western movies, but the difference lies in the material. Hit It allows everyone to feel like a strong cowboy. Saloon fighting will now not only be fun, but safe.
Pains that I don't own this. Not sure I can outwit the physical Hit It Table and Chairs with any sort of pun or twee-based commentary, but I will say that if this was a public company I would buy so much stock in it that I would wear a monocle, smoke a pipe and brag about how the economy doesn't affect investors smart enough to put their money in collapsible fighting furniture - because that sir, is a global necessity.

Happy Holilate
So, even though the man publicly outed me as desperate for those drool-worthy Coraline Nikes, and banned the shoe game to Clandestinish, I still owe Pete a Holiday present. He got me the Todd James (a.k.a. "REAS") print he featured over on his blog a few months ago, which was awesome. And I figured I'd return the gesture...
I had two prints to choose from, you tell me if I picked correctly.
Thought about these Tim Doyle "Bill Murray Times Six" prints I first saw at OMG Posters. They have a normal colorway, and a more limited glow-in-the-dark version, and both chronicle Bill in many of his most memorable roles (Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Ed Wood, Lost in Translation, Life Aquatic), but luckily leaves of his stint as the voice of Garfield. Anyway, didn't pick this one, although I might need to pick it up for myself.
I went with Alex Pardee, who you might recognize from his extensive album and merch art for The Used and Cage. I framed it up with matting and everything...
Choice Fail?

Go Panthers!
...and to further my obsession, would any of you still be my friend if I bought a few of these products and wore them while watching the DVD sets? (and by a few products, I mean all 4, and yes, that would mean I'd wear both jerseys at once, switching them when either Riggins or Matt scores at TD or kisses a girl).

What May Come...
Still a little confused about how this dude was able to take a photograph of a dream he was having. Also, I love little man in the back who has not quite hit the age where he would HAVE to pay attention.

Chueh Shoe
A nice mixture between my worlds of Gallery1988 and Clandestine is the artwork of Luke Chueh, who recently created a commissioned painting for the cover of Fall Out Boy's latest album, Folie a Deux. Maybe you've seen it? Well, if you have, I'm assuming it got you onto LukeChueh.com, which in turn got you to be a serious Luke Chueh fan.
Well, was stoked to see these custom Nikes painted by Yoakustoms, which has the "Possessed" image on one side of the shoe, a legendary Luke Chueh painting sold at my Gallery almost 5 years ago. Check out the bloody mess...
First seen here.

Day Of
Pete & Dan out in DC getting their "I was there for history" on, I'm laying on my couch watching this week's "Tool Academy." Toss up, right?
The Clandestine Obama tee dropped today, with outstanding success. I know off hand that G1988: SF sold out. There are still some left at G1988: LA and Stephen over at the Clandestine store said people were going crazy for it when they opened - but I think they have a limited number left too. Wondering how you SD kids were at Loserkids. All good things. And if you don't live in these cities, just call one of the stores, they'll probably take a phone order and send it to you. Limited edition of 100, so don't just stand there, let's get to it (strike a pose, there's nothing to it. VOGUE.)
Oh, and here's Jay-Z's official Inauguration remix to Young Jeezy's "My President is Black," which is insanely brilliant. This verse should force people who don't think he's the greatest rapper of all time to punch themselves in the face and realize the truth.

Pre Pre Buzz
Early word out of Sundance (besides the obvious that Hollywood people are douchey) is that the Marc Webb directed "500 Days of Summer" is an uber-smash hit, with it getting tons of "It's the next _____" (Juno, Garden State, Little Miss Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire, Geico Caveman campaign, etc.) buzz. It stars Joseph Gordon-Leavitt and Zooey Deschanel and has the tag line, "Boy meets Girl. Boy falls in love. Girl Doesn't" - so it's promising obviously. Anyway, here's the trailer and remember where you heard it first.

One Way Or The Other
Hell hath no fury like a dude who's been waiting to release a movie for a handful of years but can't seem to get a studio behind him, but the Spike Jonze/Dave Eggers "Where The Wild Things Are" appears to be moving forward inch by inch. Spike's skateboard company, Girl, has announced limited edition skate decks, which also serve as our first real look at all the monsters who will fill up a good portion of the screen (if it comes out). I wonder if these decks were renegade moves by Spike to get some visuals and buzz back out there, or if the studio is finally letting some details and hope loose. Let's assume it's the latter so I can skate in peace.
star wars retold
brian diaz, guitar tech extroadinaire, tipped me off to this wonderful video. it's an animated re-telling of the original star wars trilogy, explained by a girl who's never actually watched all 3 films in their entirety. almost as good as the real thing...

There's Always Money In The Banana Stand!
With the Arrested Development movie getting the full green light yesterday (Michael Cera, if you do not return, I swear I will punch you in the face anywhere I see you. Be it on the street, at a concert, in a CiCi's Pizza, etc.), I figured we could celebrate the good news here at Clandestinish. While looking for images, I found out about Dean Fraser, and his Springfield Punx project. Touching on another TV show I'm grossly obsessed with, Dean takes The Simpsons character design and recreates other well-known characters in their style. My favs were the dysfunctional Bluths.
If you have never seen an episode of Arrested Development, do yourself a favor and go buy the DVD box sets. They're like $10 each now and will make any weekend, one of the best of your life. And check out more of Dean's Springfield Punx (which include Michael Keaton as Batman, TONS of superheroes, Dwight from The Office and Craig Ferguson), by CLICKING HERE.

More Than Meets The Ears
Couldn't resist posting what looks to be the coolest thing coming out of Toy Tokyo Forum 2009, the result of some serious co-branding between Disney and Transformers.
Beautifully designed (while still keeping the rough play, child aesthetic and functioning), with a price tag around $40, I'm already reserving shelf space. You?

The Best Part
I really only like the first 3 weeks of American Idol. When people try out, and most of them are whack jobs. But yes, there will always be good singer highlights (i.e. the blind dude, the guy with the really dangerous job, the girl named "Lil' Rounds"), but we obviously tune in for the car crashes. But I think I want to add a new reason to watch the try-out weeks on American Idol: the jokes my girlfriend can say during the episode that I think are insanely funny.
When this guy came on screen:
She said, "That looks like the Indian Ray Ramano. It's like 'Everybody Loves Kumar.'"
Hey, I thought it was funny. And now I can tell you to check out Petewentz.com for another sneak at a limited edition new hoodie dropping at relaunch.

Shoutout to Lafayette Elementary in Holly Grove
You might think my favorite part of Lil' Wayne's new interview in GQ is when he calls Pete,
"Pete Weiss" at first (isn't Pete Weiss my accountant's name?), or the fact that Terry
Richardson, my favorite photographer took the shots. You might even assume my favorite
part is when he says his favorite book is a dictionary or that he doesn't remember the full
name of the director who he just did a film with (so don't feel bad, Pete Weiss). Some might
also think my favorite excerpt is when he says he can't watch movies with Dakota Fanning
in them because she's creepy or when he's shocked he liked "Butterfly Effect" because
Ashton is "usually an asshole." Hell, some might even predict that my favorite part is him
explaining he gave Michael Phelps an entire iPod of unreleased Lil' Wayne music (even one
song made especially for Phelps) or that he references Bruce Springsteen pulling
Courtney Cox on stage for the "Dancing in the Dark" video. Well, truth is, everyone would
be correct.
See more of the pictures and read the incredible interview by CLICKING HERE.
